I'm listening to a Killer Covers stream on CBC Music........ AWESOME!!
I'm really thankful to have figured out the CBC Radio 2 station existed, it's pretty much perfect for me. I mean aside from the classical and some different types of world music that gets in there, I either love (or like /learn to like /can ignore peacefully) a lot of the music on there. I can take classical at times like the afternoons in traffic or sometimes when the other two stations were on cock-rock overload, but it's not really my thing. Sometimes when I'm driving in the mornings and afternoons from work I feel like I'm having music overload, there are too many things I'm enjoying to even think about or remember who's what. Tom Power on the morning show is wicked. He says things like "wicked".
Back to Killer Covers. I wish I could stream music in my car. Earlier, Feist was covering Ron Sexsmith's "Secret Heart" - it sounded so pretty (Side-note: You know what I just noticed? I've been spelling Feist wrong for a long time! Ha!) Right now it's the Beatles with "Twist and Shout". Pretty please click BOTH of those song links, do it for the children!!! .... Did you? Bahaha! Beuller. Beulelr. Bueller. I love it. (Side-note 2: Youtube has commercials now before videos? Boourns!)
The other morning I had my alarm set on a Saturday or Sunday I can't remember, but I woke up to Stuart McLean entertaining me gently out of slumber. His voice is so relaxing and he's a funny writer, it was a odd thing to wake up to all dreamy like. I've read a ton of the Vinyl Cafe books but haven't really listened to the show, is that weird?
OK that's it for now! Goodnight.

pickers, sea salt, & hbo
Good evening!
Anyone out there watch Canadian Pickers? I love Sheldon and Scott! Maybe I don't know much about pickin' but it seems to me that some people they pick from have homes that look an awful lot like some of the homes on 'Hoarders'. There are people out there with rooms and rooms and like four garages full of things for pickin'. O btw, I'll be using the term "pickin'" from here on out. Anyway. I wonder how much money people have put into their collections; are they in debt?? Are they really hoarders sometimes? Maybe to an extent. You don't have a garage with one walking path in it because it's full of boxes/crap without some qualities of your run-of-the-mill A&E hoarder.
I saw some really neat weather/environmental/earth shows lately... One was "Earth from Space" which put visual to what happens with water vapor, etc. If anyone is doubting why global warming is important, check out the show and the piece about salt sea water and what it does in the winter in Antarctica. I'm not sure if this is the same... but it said how sea salt doesn't melt (http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/15835017) but goes down down down off the Continental shelf, and is actually this huge "waterfall" 9 billion times more powerful then Niagara, and this flows up north, basically having an effect on everything - water, nutrients, etc. OK, I'm no Bill Nye, but that's a pretty good nutshell for something I watched at 4 in the morning.
I don't know why anyone would ignore or deny global warming - it's literally science.
I also saw some other show one night about.... I think it was about lava. And basically what it comes down to is I will never live in San Francisco or Tokyo; you guys are going under. The earth is doing what it's always been doing, blowing up lava and moving around, it's just got more populated in the last few hundred years!
This might be blogged about again: Loving the new HBO show 'The Newsroom' by Aaron Sorkin. It's only two shows in. It's a little "preachy" at times, but frankly, I could not be more supportive of what they're preaching about, so good on ya. O, and 'Girls'. Too funny.
Maybe I should re-name my blog to "Hey, guess what I watched on television this week!"

debris and serial killers
Is this not effed up?
One of my first posts was about the Pacific garbage island! Now here it is again! Weird! The article above is about debris drifting across the ocean from Asia towards the coast of British Columbia in the next few years (and other westerly land I’m sure). They said in the mini video that the debris from Japan and the earthquake will be about twice the size of Ontario . What!! Why are we not… cleaning the ocean? Imagine sitting on a resort in Hawaii and a house flows in with the tide. That’s effed up.
I think there are even more recent stories about the debris now.
I have lots of ideas, that I should be writing down but don’t.
I was watching “Most Evil” one night, and it was about the Manson family. Shocker! Charles Manson was treated poorly as a child. News flash right? It was almost unbelievable to hear them speak about how cunning he was, how he basically brainwashed people. I think if Charles Manson went to business school instead of being a criminal his whole life, he’d probably be a multi-million dollar success story instead of a frigging lunatic. (Side note: I’m sick of stories on the Mason family… and Titanic. It’s like I’m full of that information, I get it).
Oh and there’s a whole other life time of typing in how sad I feel for children being treated poorly. (Hey this random blogging woman must be a social worker or something??). Even Charles Manson was at one point only a little kid three years old and not in jail. And yes of course… sometimes a person’s brain “ain’t quite right”; but sometimes nobody really gives two shits. If you’re going to be a parent, at least give the kids something to work with. Or give them to someone who can. I don’t even have children and I know that much. You teach, you play, you provide, and for god sakes just show them a little bit of love and affection. Lordy, most people if they just would pay attention to the kids would be in a better place for sure. Oh it’s all complaining and blaming when your child turns 10 and is demanding and disrespectful and running the household. “I gave him everything he wanted!” Yes, dear, what a wonderful life lesson: you want it, you got it. That’s how it works when you’re an adult too right?
I love my job. I love my job.

the dictionary
Happy spring!
I only found out this year that not only do they add words to the dictionary, but they remove words too! Imagine that! Last August it was reported that the Oxford English Dictionary removed the word "cassette tape" - and added the words "woot" and "sexting". Other recent words added include: LOL, <3, and in 2006 things like "soul patch" and "ringtone" were added to Miriam Webster!
And while I was just browsing the internet, this article popped up, and since I'm pimping out Cracked.com from time to time: 15 Words You Won't Believe They Added to Dictionary!
In other new: are people keeping an eye on this Supermoon?
Here's a photo I took last night! Nothing to scale it, but take my word, it definitely appeared bigger and brighter then ever! It was really nice. It was coming up on the horizon but there was lots of clouds until it rose higher.
Short and sweet today, but at least it's something!

music
O hello strangers!
I've been listening to more pop and top 40 music the last few months. I think one reason is the OZfm changing their radio play AGAIN - first it was the best of both worlds, classic rock and today's best - then for some stupid reason it was all classic rock, and now it's all today's best music. I'm glad it's back to some 2012 tunes. The radio isn't really radio without some pop music! I know one other reason I'm hearing the new-er music is I have my television set to go to Much More Music every day at 9:30pm so if I'm in the room or whatever, Pop Up Video comes on. If there was a Pop Up Video channel, I'd be all over it. Anyway now the radio is a mix of everything... you have your KRock music, your OZfm today's music, and then something for everyone on CBC Radio 2. Yes, we have three FM stations.
Everyone gets uppity when you talk about music and there's many a discussion to be had: oh this one doesn't write their own lyrics, that guy's a douche, this one's lip-syncing, that one's a product of a music label, this music sounds like someone else's music, beats aren't music, everyone sounds like T-Pain, country music sucks, blah blah blah, etc etc etc. It will never end. Never.
Do I have musical preferences? Duh. Lately I'm in to a bunch of Canadian artists for the simple fact that over the last year I'm loving the music on CBC Radio 2 (at least in the mornings and the evenings... no offense classical/Tempo, but you're not my thing). I like my singer song-writers, I like getting my dancing shoes out to some Lady Gaga, I love country music from when I was a kid, I love the 90's, and whatever else makes me daydream or dance. Here are some music links, not all canucks, check out this talent!!

My simple wish for music and the people who enjoy it? Enjoy what you like, and just frig off. Why is there so much complaining and hate about a band or singer or rapper. Change the station, put on your own CD's. Leave everyone else alone.
My point in this before I started ranting: Everyone's singing about the same thing. If you're rapping or sing yelling, singing sweet songs or jamming like William Shatner, pretty much the same themes don't you think? Love, love lost, having a good time or bad time, or anything else important to you that for whatever reason someone feels the need to tell a story about (like your truck, or your grillz). So maybe Garth Brooks isn't singing as cryptically as Bob Dylan, but I bet they'd share some stories about 'da ladies, even if it was just for scientific purposes and if they wouldn't really mesh and be friends outside of my experiment.
I'll try and write again sometime.

what's up?
Hey gang!
Ever sit around browsing the web in your pajammas, and you open a page/link and click "Open in a New Tab"? Well first off let's just say that's the best improvement I've seen to all the new browser upgrades. Also I just opened a new tab to google comparisons on Firefox to Google Chrome. Sometimes you open a new tab and it opens down the line of tabs, but sometimes it opens right next to the window you're working in.
I'm roaming around the internet, taking photos off my camera, updating my photo blog, and have the Galaxie "Nothing But The 90's" music station on for sound. MC Hammer "Have You Seen Her?" is on and it was just followed up with Kim Stockwood's "You Won't Remember This". Quite the mix!!
I only wanted to post to say I'm going to try and start posting more, and I think the new computer room will be helpful with that for some reason. But now that that's said, I'm off. Short post, but I mean really, you can't go wrong with a post that references MC Hammer can you? :)
